„Der singende Detektiv“ war der letzte Film von Dennis Potter. Darin geht es um einen Detektiv mit Schuppenflechte – was als eigene Erfahrung des Drehbuchautoren gilt. Erwähnt wird er – wie einige andere Künstler – im Buch „Kleine Kulturgeschichte der Haut“ (Kapitel „Psoriasis – Politik – Kunst – Mode – Krankheitsbürde – Lebensqualität“; ab Seite 84).
